Types of logs for frog enclosure

I just got a small log like stick from under a gum tree and I weas wondering if I could boil it and put it in my green tree frog tank would they go on it or is it dangerous for them

Just wash off any dirt etc and chuck it in, i put bromeliads from the garden in with my frogs without the whole sterilization routine and have never had a problem. Any bugs will more than likely get eaten.
