I have a 3 month old CND that has just developed a small lump under its jaw about 2 days ago:shock:, does anyone know what this is or could be? What would it be caused from maybe?:(:?

Is it under the jaw bone or under the skin of the jaw? Can you get a photo? Poor baby. Does D have any idea?

On the jaw under the skin. Will try get pic tomorrow. She has no idea either that is why I am enlisting the help of other fellow herpers....................or at least trying too anyways.

Thankyou she is cute hey I just hope someone can answer the problem so it can go away.

Its been there about 3 days now. I havent noticed it getting any bigger.

Is it hard feeling or soft and squishy? Can you move it around with your finger or does it stay still?
If it's soft, try steralizing a sharp small pin (sewing needles have worked best for me) over an open flame, and then insert it (gently!) between some scales in the lump. It's difficult because they wriggle alot but keep trying. Hold her against you as you do it. Once you've pricked the lump, squeeze ever so gently. And I mean gently! Do not force anything!
I've had some where a small amount of blood will come out and then the lump goes down and goes away aka blood clot for an unknown reason.
I've had others where it was all pus caused from anothers claw during climbing time. If nothing comes out, then it's a little more serious, and I would try Terry and a syringe extraction of the lump to see if he can get anything out that way.
Of course, if it's a hard lump, that's something I haven't dealt with myself, so see Terry if it is.
And also, I've never done the needle thing with a CND, only EWDs. So if you're not certain about doing that, go to Terry.

JR thanks and lol I wish!

LJ I have thought about all of that but even if it were an option which its not in this case it would be useless. It is a hard almost skeletal type lump that does not move at all upon touching it this is what I am curious about.
What you are talking about LJ is more commonly referred to as an external hymatoma (excuse my spelling) these are normally caused by a trauma to the area ie: bumped on a rock, a fall or a dominant tankmate.
Thankyou for trying to help anyway, its very hard to get advice here for CND, it seems that if it were a BD then everyone would want to help but not CND..................how bizarre.

Yeh I totally respect that and I am not having a go at anyone I just find it bizzare is all besides they really arent a great deal different to beardies. :)

not sure about the predominance of cancer or tumorous growths in herps, but perhaps it's a possibility, looks similar to how some people look with oral or bone tomours (disregarding scales, facial features etc.)

If I could offer any advice or experience, I would. Unfortunately, I will have to wait to find out the answer as well... surely someone must know! Does it hurt him when you touch the lump, or is it just like touching any other bone? Hope it's nothing serious DL. Fingers crossed mate,
Nic

Well this is actually my concern however would it normally occur in such a young animal?

Nic thanks champ I hope its not but am not really getting many answers. It does not appear to be tender atm so I dont know and there are no REPTILE vets within 400km of here.
