hey
im still new to having a snake first time n stuff havent had him for long at all so i just wanted to ask a few things i wasnt sure of

1. after everytime i feed thi little guy he usually poops later that week but the last 2 he hasnt .. not that i can see anyway but its pretty obvious ...... why is this ? not enough food ? somthing wrong ... stress ?

2. occasionally when im holding him hes is usally really good hes gotten used to it but sometimes he decides to squeeze the **** out of my hand n not let go ... i guessing its just a bad day coz it rarely happens but yea any reason for this ?

also they guy i got him off never fed him so hes tiny for his age but i feed him every week rest assured

sorry if these are obvious im just a little unsure and want others experianced advice and hearing that most new snake owners snakes die i really dont want that to happen to mine so i ask about anything im unsure of
thanks you

1. They wont always go toilet every week right on the dot, especially if coming up to a shed they might hold it in.

2. If he is just squeezing and not biting on the reason could be that he doesn't feel secure and doesn't want to fall, hence him gripping on tightly.

ho old is the snake ? what size and type of foof are you feeding it ? [ rats or mice ]
when it squeezings you is it coming up to a food day [ like you handle it the day before a feed , when it squeezes you ] .

he is 9 months and on furless rats hes about a foot n a half little less

i dont usually hold him bofore food day generally 2 3 days before

no reason not to hold him before a feed, just dont hold him for 2-3 days after feeding so he can digest food. snakes can get pretty cranky if you hold them during this period also. if there food isn't digested properly it can put their insides at risk due to mice/rat claws, and things like that. this is the reason that snakes will usually sit i one spot and not move (at all/ or little) after a feed. hope this helps some.

i never hold my snakes a day before there due to be fed , as all of mine will squeeze u and try to eat fingers :D

i usually wait 48 hours aftre feeding to touch him might wait little longer

I'd go up to fuzzy rats now, still feed him weekly, it's ok to hold him up to when you want to feed him just not after. The reason you may not be seeing poop is that pinky rats do have that much in them, so there's not much left to poop :D

move it up to fussies. they need fur in their diet. fur is like fiber is to humans. also check that the temperature is correct as a low temperature can slow digestion.

My little carpet who is around 11months ,she will squeeze my fingers ..especially if she is feeling a bit cool from being on that side of her tub ,and I get her out ..I dont regard this as a hunger or frightened mode(she has done it after a feed and still with a big lump in her belly) ..she will do it for a bit ,then loosen up and start to slide through my fingers ..does it quite often, and if I move my fingers when she is coiled, she squeezes tighter ..But I agree with 'up size' your food ..pinkies are like finger food ..will suffice till the real meal comes but isnt a main meal in itself ..
