Hey guys i was just wondering if any one had seen this before. i was holding my brothers olive today and noticed some dents/marks/sunken scales/ I'm really not sure, on either side of the vent scale. my brother was pretty sure he had heard of it before but couldn't remember what it was. i took some photos with my phone, sorry for the poor quality (best camera i have). the olive hasn't shed since before winter. so I'm guessing will be due for one soon. every thing ells has been fine.

Hey, the 2 black marks on both sides of the vent are just the spurs, both males and females have them.

Looks normal to me mate. As the others said, spurs

Perfectly normal. Those spots at the sides are where the spurs develop. The slightly sunken appearance of the anal plates are normal and occur in all pythons.

This is probably a male olive. But sexing can tell you with better certainty ;)

The size of those markings on the side give me a very good impression that it's a male olive. I could very well be wrong, but I've seen the spurs of a young male olive and they looked very similar in size to what these markings would have been at that age.

Has the animal been sexed? That's the only way to know 100%, but it certainly looks like a male.

All good, I was only curious. I have never seen a young male olive and can only go off the experience of having my female which is why I asked.

No the snake hasn't been sexed. But I'm happy to know its normal. Thank you all very much.
