have noticed my bub childrens is laying upside down under the newspaper in his tank.. he is definately not dead but is this normal?? i have only had him for 4 days and he seems otherwise healthy?! Should i be moving him?? :?

nope, not since wednesday night.. i did just clean his cage but havnt changed it round or anything?! when i put him back in it he seemed happy wandering round in it..

he was under the paper and i think his whole body was upside down.. im pretty sure he did this yesterday as well and i jst thought i must have done it when i gently lifted the paper... i hav just moved him and now he is right way up. i dont have any heating in his tank as the guy i bought him off just said to put him undr a light after he eats until he digests his food...... could he maybe be getting too cold??

I would definitely have a heat spot for him :) You might not need heat at night in the NT(personal preference)many would say to have constant warm spot 24/7 for him :) ideal being warm end and cool end hides at each end
PS just pm'd you a link that may help :)

thanx :) i thought i would have needed to do that but the breeder i got him off told me not to stress.. :( so u reckon its cos he is cold?? i will leave my lamp on down one end through the day n c if it makes a dif. do u think thats maybe part of the reason he is quite cranky? besides the fact its a new home??

All baby animals need extra care :) I would say he is cranky for a few reasons, a)he is in a new home and needs to settle in(10-14 days) b) He would need some warmth too c) He needs to have a little time to settle in ;) Dont stress too much just keep an eye on him and if he seems to spasm while upside down or seems otherwise unwell take him to a Rep Vet :)

Where in the NT are you? Heat's not an issue near the coast but can be down the track. We're in Darwin and have local species (bhp, darwin carpets) but Childrens are local here too.

on it.. iv moved him and put a lamp on him n he seems ok now :) will keep my eye on him!! i kno i am a bit of a stress head but im only new to owning a snake and everything i read says different stuff...
i am about 45mins from humpty doo.. is quite warm here at the moment :)
thanx heaps for everyones help n input :)
and thanx for the caresheet crystal moon :)

I know it can be very nerve wracking when they are your first :) I still learn something new every day from my snake Babies and the wealth of info on here and in books :) I seem to apply the KISS principle Keep It Simple Sweetheart and it is working for me :) good luck with your Baby
