Went to the vet today at kessels road. Great people, lots of info. So went in there sat in the waiting room for 10 minutes, then Mel called us in. Then after 15 minutes of consultation got told, that it's 25 grams (such a tiny snake for the supposed age of 7 months), it could eat bigger than pinkies and that the tail has to be amputated. With a local anesthetic it was done in a matter of minutes. She said it's fine now. Such a brave little girl didn't squirm or anything she said. Now she's back in her enclosure.Looking forward to feeding her on thursday. =) oh and when i was there, saw a carpet python that had to have 4-5cms of its tail cut off. ouch. :( but all in all my baby is fine! =)

That's great to hear every thing worked out well for your little spotted :)

I am glad to hear everything went fine,

there seems to be a few owners i know off having problems with their pythons sheding.

maybe its all related to temps and humidity.

what do others think????

cheers jules

I have 6 snakes all up and i find it just happens sometimes... no idea what its from. Fortunately, i was told it happens before i even got any snakes and had seen pictures of the outcome... So every time one of my snakes shed, i check them, nose to tail :D
Its always good to get them out for a look at the fresh paint anyways :p

yeah she was great =). i didnt get to talk to deborah tho, she was doing a surgery on a carpet python. same problem =(. but yeah shes fine now i think.

did you find out if it's a girl or a boy?
that i didnt do. i asked her and she said that he/she is way too small. so when he/she grows ill take him/her back there and get her sexed. hopefully its a girl tho. hehe =)

Well now arent you glad you took her/him now....her little stump will heal well and next shed make sure she has done a complete one ,if not help her out ,sometimes especially with a small snake ,you can get a luke warm wet face washer or hand towel and place her in the middle of the towel fold over her and let her squirm around in it ...this motion will help remove any left over shed ...

yeah =). hopefully it'll heal up really well. im gonna keep a close eye on her shedding. thanks =)
