Here's a photo of a bit of weekend fishing. It's from a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad catch for the day.

LOL. I was trying to work out what rig your where using, then I enlarged the picture and saw the compound bow. LMFAO I haven't ever seen the spool for the arrow retrieval before..is that something you can buy? Man, that is a classic....

were they in a barrel aswell? youd have to be a really good shot, or were you diving in a wetsuit? funny pic anyway, makes me think you might have animals heads all over your walls. lol :D

how about that! too much resistance? friction? did you really use the bow? be hard to account for refraction from above? bit like indiginous spear fishing i suppose. I assume spear guns are bit different? how?

The arms on a compound bow move forward when you fire an arrow. If you tried it underwater the water would push against the arms. A speargun is powered by basically a giant rubber band, completely different to a bow.

ok, so the energy released by the "rubber band" is much greater than the energy absorbed by the bow arms resistance in water! cool, thats intresting stuff Greebo. How long have you been fishing with a bow? must take alot of patience.

must take alot of patience
Nah,not as much as sitting there all day with a worm on a hook. Judging refraction is not hard, you just aim a little lower than you think you should. Those carp are pretty big, about 6kg each and I was only about 5 metres away.

Nothing like a good carp bash, the more that are dead the better, mongrels.

did you use something to attract them near he surface? maybe you could get trout with a bow too?

really? didnt even think of that? is that new law? wonder why, dosent seem like you could over fish withat method. i dont agree with the fishing licence for recreational fishers, seems like a revenue raiser to me. make more sense to license trawlers/commercial, if they arnt already.
i dont get to go fishing much anyway, maybe once or twice a year.

love the photo greebs and the less carp the better.

Instar, sadly no I didn't have to do anything to attract the carp. There are just that many of them. I know a few places were they like to feed on the surface and then they are easy to pick off.

Greg, you have me pegged mate, those tights really accentuate my package and I have lovely calves too.

Instar it sure is the law, grab a copy of the trout fishing rules from fishing shop you will be surprised how strict they are.

Fishing licenses are a good thing, the money goes into stocking and restocking waterways with native fish, also more fisheries officers, and also eradication of pest species like carp and last but not least they are also using the money to buy out commerical fisherman and close estuaries to commercial fishing. They realse figures every year to show where the money goes.

Thats why i don't have one  i'll get caught one day but it helps when you know the local officer. :)

I would have thought there would be enough revenue raised from boating licensing and the like without taxing weekend anglers. its a bit much to say " you must pay, but this person dosent have to" thats what irks me.

Bost licenses are a totally different area, i don't mind paying for fishing licenses because i know the more people that buy licenses the better our fish stocks will be, which means better fishing thats all i care about.

I mean $25 a year isn't alot of money.
