Some people feed them pinkies others fuzzies but wild hatchlings can handle much larger prey.
This little intruder managed to get into my laundry where I had put a breeding trio of large adult mice in a cage ready to deliver the next day. It was small enough to slither under the door and get through the cage top mesh and then consumed all 3 adult super mice (35gm + each) making it too fat to get back out.
I have had small elapids like Stephens Bandeds get through the gap under doors but never a carpet
