Hey all, just wondering if anybody can shed some light on why/what my Jungle Python (2 years old) is doing? He usually just chills out on or in his hide rock and obviously occasionally gets around the rest of his tank, but all today and yesterday, he's constantly been moving around his tank pushing on every surface with his nose like he's looking for a weak spot to get out. Of course they're going to have abit of a push here and there, now and then, but he hasn't stopped in two days now. The temperature in the tank is fine, he's got fresh water, he's been fed, I don't know what's gotten into him!

My MD did the same last night and today, I "think" it's the change in the temp here, lots of storms happening, and that would bring in new smells...because for the last few weeks he's mostly slept on the branch or in the water bowl. And not eaten either.

I wonder if that's what it could be?

Could be? He's spent a lot of his attention on the vent, but I don't know if its because he ("Boomer") sees it as a weak spot or because its bringing in the new smells. We had a little storm tonight but yesterday was just stinking hot again. I have another Jungle Python ("Zeus") right next door to Boomer and he hasn't been behaving weirdly. He's still under his hide rock where he spends 90% of his time lol

Sexual Maturity maybe? Just a wild guess.

One of my MDs bit me out of no where (after having her for nine months) and I have no idea what brought it on. She hasn't done it since either and she's only just over a year old, so I doubt it's an 'age' thing, so to speak.

My. Female jungle of 1 year old, has also been doing the same thing within the past 3 days and has damaged her nose because if it, she has also been super flighty which is also quite strange because she is usually quite calm, she is the only 1 of 5 to suddenly Change like this, maybe its the same reason, I thought maybe one of the cats had terrorised her but she still had been sleeping out.of her hide, i have moved her back into a much smaller click clack more hidden away, hopefully her behavior improves

I have the same with my male bredli, always tries to push out of the cage on the door nearest to the girl, maybe it's a mating season thing?

My male jungle in mating season is on the constant move for about 4/6 weeks and trashes his enclosure

He gave it a rest yesterday now he's been back at it all today and rubbing his head (top bottom and sides) all over his branches and hide?

Drops in barometric pressure brings the snakes out. After a rain the mice an rats are out looking for food also, snakes "know" this.

Royal pythons especially can tell the change in seasons, even in a controlled environment, this is why they go off feed so easily. My one that has not had a meal in 5 months is now in shed. I'm guessing after this shed he will be ready to eat again.

My carpet has decided to become super snappy and pretty nasty after this last feed. I bumped her up to small rats. No idea what's up, she even left me quite the present in her viv...and struck my hand as I was cleaning it.

It happens, keep an eye on its nose, if it rubs to much you may need to treat it. Give it a bit and I'm sure it will pass.

my coastal sometimes pushes his nose really hard against his air vents as if he wants to get out. if i feed him that fixes the problem. my diamond roams around a lot like you said your jungle is. i find he does this when hes hungry and he just doesnt want to sit still. when i dont feed him in winter he'll roam around for about 3 months until he gets fed again.

Ill try feeding him again and see if that calms him down. He only fed 6days ago, but ill give it ago anyway. It might be the weather, it has been pretty funny over the last few days. I've bought him out a couple of times, and his behaviour doesn't seem to have changed in terms out his attitude, he's not snappy or jumpy or anything.

What was the weather like? One of my womas comed out of his hide and trashes his enclosure if there is a storm building up. He is especially bad before and during lightning/ thunder storms.

At 2 years your jungle may be coming up to sexual maturity as well. Any females near his tank? He could be searching for a mate.

It's just being a snake. My Jungle never stopped moving around when summer started.
Most of my snakes do same.
