Just cutaneous. I've been told that this can turn into mucasal, eating all your mucas membranes.
The treatment has a list of side effect as long as your arm.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrheoa and abdominal pain
Anorexia, malaise, myalgia, arthralgia, headache and lethargy. Symptomatic pancreatitis has also been reported.
It gets a little more severe with visceral Leish, including death.
The other drug I tried was Pentamadine. It's got some nasties listed with it too, but luckily, I don't think I'm doing to bad.

cool
well keep us updated cause we don't want you to be totally eaten from the outside in lol
good luck with it all matey and i hope the injections arn't too bad ;)

My god, did you have to go into some sort of quarranitine back here in Australia? Nothing like the gift that keeps on giving hay
Seriously Chewy hope you get on top of it all quickly.

Regards rina

holy crap dude, thats nasty.

How do you give yourself an injection in the bum?

Wow, the cure sounds as rough as the illness. Are there long term health issues that you have to confront? The amazing thing is you have done this amazing trip all the way to other side of the world and something as tiny as a sandfly, when you put in terms of the really big things that could have had a go at you has created so much havoc for you.
I take it this sandfly is impervious to the normal insect repellants/
Regards Rina

I've still got a backlash from the insect/spider bite on one of my fingers. The initial bite ulcerated the finger, then heaps of blisters came up on other fingers and the other hand. Now where the blisters were, all the skin is peeling off! Have had two lots of Anti Bios. At least all the itchies have gone now!!! Not a pleasant sight, but looking better now with lots of lanonlin cream. Cheers Cheryl

ewwww, that really can't be healthy man  , was the trip worth the trouble of the bite?
hope things improve alot more 4 u.
will the arthritus in the hip etc go away after the treatment is stopped?
cheers
pete

Gee Whiz, this is not a laughing matter, do you think you could have just read a National Geographic and saved yourself the pain and agony and the risk to your life. I know it is a life experience but fatalities have been registered against this disease...

OMG, that looks bad chewy, i saw a pic of your hand in the photo album before i knew what had happened and i thought it was one off those fake scabs you can buy!

get well soon ;)
