hi all i was having an argument with my friend about breeding or snakes in the near future because i own the female and he owns the male who would get the first pic? any oppinions?

Do it on a 1-1 basis.. e.g. you choose one, he chooses one, you choose one etc. To find out who chooses the very first... flip a coin? lol

Whoever is keeping the female and doing the incubation should get the better deal imo

if you were having an arguement before it even happens my suggestion is by yourself another snake to form a pair and do it yourself.

If there's arguments now, it's only going to end in tears. Don't go through with it if there's any ambiguity.

I would split the offspring into thirds. 1/3 for the owner of the male, 1/3 for the owner of the female, and 1/3 for the person who incubates. As for who gets the first pick, its not really going to be an issue unless you get an albino or something.

I have incubated and used a mates male over my female twice before , we just went halves , but if it came to who got first pick or if i really cared it would have been me , as i did all the work and incubating ....seems only fair the person doing the actual breeding and incubating should be rewarded for the extra effort .

yup i agree , it might be better to go and buy a male snake and do it all in house . because if your fueding about who gets first pick then that can only mean trouble in the future.

If he's got the male you should simply borrow it pro grata. His snake is getting the better end of the bargain, so the owner should be happy about that. I suppose when they hatch you could sell him a baby for cheap if you wanted to be a nice guy, but you should choose which one he buys.

Spot on. Partnerships rarely work..unless you are a couple (that cannot be guaranteed either).
Many a friendship has become defunct over these sort of things.

just split the eggs in half so u dont know what ur getting, then its just luck. or as brown has said, split the eggs into 1/3 and whoever incubates gets the extra 1/3. thats what i would do, and if ur not bothered let them choose there eggs so they are responsible 4 wat there selected hatchies look like. or just dont do it and reserve ur friendship.

The owner of the male should only get 1 -3 IMO not half a clutch.
all hes doing is lending you a male for a few hours over a week ,
while your female is put under all that stress??

oh and don't forget Quarantine as you could loss your female
and the rest of your collection if your not careful.

Breeding loans aren't worth the hassle imo

I look at it this way , with out that male , the owner of the female will have no eggs at all , so half is certainly fair ....
I have given half the clutch to the owner of a male and of a female in breeding loans , and i did all the breeding and incubating .

Different topics slightly ....
What do you think is fair for just incubating some ones eggs for them ??

if he bought a male to go with his female ,he could get the money
back that the male cost him with a few hatchys.

breeding loans almost always end up in fights because both
people want a certain snake out of the clutch. iv seen two guys
punch on over a striped hatchy ,i kid you not.

just split the eggs that way neither of you can complain and it would be just pot luck with what you get and when the incubations over and he has something you like and vice versa just swap
