(im new to this forum) i plan on getting a irian jaya carpet python i was looking at the exo terra 36x18x24 and 36x18x18 can a adult live it life in one of these if not please make suggestions

my number are in inches

I assume you're not in Australia mate because Irian Jaya carpets are not allowed there.
Anyway to answer your question, I would personally say no. I have seen some pretty big IJs, which would definitely not appreciate that size of enclosure. I think it should be standard that the absolute minimum size for any carpet should be 4x2x2.
One of the Antaresia species would be much happier in an enclosure with the dimensions you mentioned.
 
A male pure IJ will usually reach about 5ft6in
They are also more slender snakes in comparison with say coastals darwins or south westers
More similar to Palmerston or Tully jungles
Very arboreal so I would be looking at height rather than length
