I wasnt sure what to call this thread but my question is... I have a friend who keeps his snakes together all the time, in one tank he has a pair of Womas, he has not cooled them or anything and now he thinks his snake is preggos ( gravid i know) just wondering if breeding is really that easy. ( not asking coz i want to do it and even if i did i wouldnt do it his way,) Im new still and definetly not knowledgeable enough to breed yet

It's possible I know a few ppl who just leave there snakes together and they breed every year.

thanks for the reply, i havent even looked into breeding , its not on the cards for me for ages (if ever) but i thought you had to cool them to breed with them, maybe he will be lucky

We leave our breeding pair together and she fell "preggas" :)

Why does he think its 'preggas'?

he said its lying upside down( belly up) ... but they have been unwell and on antibiotics / vitamin shots and stuff over the last few months too. I know nothing about breeding and he know less than me- until i gave him an article written by SXR he didnt even know they were supposed to be cooled.

If you hold the snake out of its enclosure starting from the head and let it move through your hands back into its enclosure you should be able to feel if its gravid depending how long its been gravid for of course. Though there is generally alot of pre attention for womas to get them to breed, maybe his are just sick not preggas? haha

Womas will lay belly up sometimes. I have males that even do it. Doesn't mean they are gravid unless there is very obvious swelling.

i just spoke to them last night its not gravid.... its just sick again like i tried to suggest, it doesnt look good, i dont think she will make it

Why is it sick?? Whats wrong with it?? Why is he keeping it in the same cage as another if it is ill??

coz they wont listen..... You should see how many they have in there other cages:rolleyes:

The vet recons it has RI ( or pnumonia as they they keep telling me) has given it antibiotics and vitamin B shot. I spoke to them last night and reccomeneded they increase the temps and totally clean out the cage of the substrate they use and add newspaper instead. I hope they have listened, its cage temp was 32.

they brought it from a local adelaide shop that is notorious for health issues and probs, fingers crossed it makes it

It should be in it's own tub on high heat if it's that ill...... A heatmat and a plastic tub are relatively inexpensive.

I agree but they think tubs r evil / and neglectful ( is that even a word lol)

so is lack of knowledge on how to properly keep your reps

try explaining quarantine is not evil, rather than have healthy animals affected
