well silly me went out and bought windows vista thinking "oh wow, that looks nifty" i took it home and installed the 64bit version, and NOTHING worked on it, so i quickly installed the 32bit version instead... when it came time to install my printer drivers i went to the HP website and downloaded their vista drivers for my printer... and now for the fun part.... i have spent the past 4 hours speaking to a tech support guy because... the drivers dont work!!!!... he referred me to a website with instructions on how to plug in the printer!!! and the he got all sarcastic and stupid when i informed him that the printer was plugged in correctly because it worked on other pc's on the network... so here i am with a $700 operating system and a $700 printer and now i have to choose between the two!!!!

just take the printer back and say it dont work

I've always been a believer in the "If it aint broke, don't mess with it" principle. My PC is dual booted XP/UBUNTU and works like a dream on either operating system. If I were to buy a new PC with Vista already installed, I might leave it on there. Then again I might just trash Vista and run LINUX.

I've heard Vista is poo, I would take the OS back, keep the printer and run XP

I have been warned so many times not to get Vista but my friend has it and loves it.

BTW your signature is hilarious, Sulphuric Acid lol.

thats why i paid an exta $500.00 to buy my computer from a privite business so i could order xp and he told me vista would take at least 12 to 18 months to be good enough for him to use in his shop, he also told me you have to buy all new scanners/printers and other extras..........

i've found everything else i have works, and i bought vista after checking that my printer had vista drivers... wish i'd got a pirated version of vista and tested the drivers.. but i blindly thought they'd actually work... im more peeved at HP for releasing dodgy drivers and their support guy being a jerk

i went out and bought a new pc with vist as the running program and none of the games i wanted on there even worked on vist when i went back they told me there were patches available and that it would take a wile to get vista ironed out of problems and spending alot of $ on this new pc i was pis** off so i went and exchaged it for one with xp on it and a bigg monitor and have never looked back

Stop using windows and convert to mac, soo much easier imo , i got a macbook for christmas last year, first time user, it all just clicked really easily..

i think im going to sell the printer to a mate and buy a new one that will work for vista... i dont mind vista but im not going to wait for HP to fix the printer drivers as thats just a pain in the bum... im a tad dissapointed because i love the printer and it worked great, but if HP can't get their drivers right what can i do

i got a new computer with vista on it, but i cant use my printer with it either, im getting rid of vista and putting xp on it, i need my printer attached to this computer

I never buy the first version of any software
they need time to iron out the bugs ;)

vista is poo poo, once they bring out a service pack it might be ok but for now stick with XP and SP2 for the win!

vista's just a memory hogging 'pretty' version atm
