Not sure if this is what happens to womas if they're coming up to a shed or something but i've had my woma for almost 3 weeks and it should be coming up to a shed now i guess. It's right eye has collapsed a little bit and gave it a light touch just before and it doesn't seem to be getting irritated by it. any suggestions? sorry no pics, tried before but couldn't get a good close up pic.

Happened to me as well. I took mine to the vet and he had a good look. He stated that the scale over the eye is what is damaged, not the eye. He told me to leave it and the next time the snake shed, the eye would return to normal. He was right. I was recommended not to touch it at all. It has happened again one more time since and I just don't worry about it.

Seems to happen to mine everytime they shed, brought my female to the doctor the first time but they said it "might" be an low level eye infection, then had to bring it back abotu three times and at 90 bucks a consultation and the constant maybes and mights but no actual things getting done about it i let it be and was told by someone else it happens a bit with woma's.

I've seen it two or three times in Womas, once in a Black-headed Python, several times in Children's Pythons, and probably several other cases in species I can't recall. The only time it was an issue was in three blonde Macs from the same clutch, with them it got worse over time to the point where their eyes were severely crinkled, and they were euthenased. In all other cases it has gone away within a few days or weeks, sometimes before the next slough.

oh well thats good to know then. i was getting worried. coz it was fine when i first got it then now its collapsed. it's been feeding fine. thanks guys =).

Ive had it happen to a coastal once but it was just a once off...it lasted from one shed to the next though (almost 6 weeks). Ive also seen it in an eastern brown where one eye seemed to collapse before every single shed.

it scared the hell outta me i started sweating haha. but it's good to hear it isn't a big problem. lol

My male woma did that with his 2nd last shed, he also puffed out his throat quite a bit. I misted him with water and the eye resolved itself the next day.
