Hi,
I had fun cobbling a video together this afternoon. I used video footage I took last night with my mobile phone, so please excuse the quality. I'm not all that happy with the music either. It's so much better with the Predator theme, but posting that version would have been breaking...
Hi,
This is my first herping post! I don't know if it's strictly "field" herping because I didn't actually have to go anywhere, and also my Complete Guide to Reptiles of Australia is still lost in a box somewhere, but hey. I last lived in inner-city Melbourne and geckoes and frogs, however...
I found this on the footpath this morning in the middle of sydney. Was under powerlines so i dont know if a bird had it and dropped it or where it came from. What the hell is it? Some sort of corn snake?
I've just returned from a week in Darwin (first time there!). My friend's band played *******fest (anyone here go?!) and I just went along for a holiday. Didn't get to go proper herping but this is what I came across in the backyard of the house we were staying at.

Anyone that lives in Australia and owns and breeds reptiles knows exotics are illegal. Putting an advertisment on petpages is like an open invitation for these people to be charged and their animals destroyed.
:/
Our Spotted has not eaten once in the last 20 weeks and that was 14 weeks ago.... She was only born in January this year so she is still a youngy....
It is Spring now and the temps have gotten higher but she is still very inactive and doesn't move around a lot... She was shedding regulary but...
Hi all,
We have a 9 month old jungle that still wont eat on it's own, we have had to force feed it now 4 times but is it good to continue to force feed them or should we take him to the vet?
He is the runt of the clutch and always been a lot smaller then the rest.
Any help would be appreciated.
In June, I visited the Maliau Basin Reserve in Sabah with a group of butterfly photographers from Malaysia and Singapore. I met the group on the net and they kindly invited me along to participate in a survey of the butterflies near the headquarters of the reserve.
I was happy to visit...
Is it actually legal anywhere to keep these?
I would think not as they're exotic and they're pests, but I'm curious, because they get big and I like the idea of a big Anuran.
As I am not too great with my gecko IDs, I'm throwing the ball to you.
This little girl was given to me tonight by a mate who is a sparky. He was working on a water heater and found her in the electrical panel.
She has large cheek pouches (like I've seen in Maddy Day Geckos) and appears to...
I bought myself a Cam Dig Microscope today and I thought I would post some pics I took with it, this geko was was about 75mm long.
And just for interest sake, is this a asian house geko?
Sorry for the incorrect spelling of Gecko.
After another exotic thread being blow out of proportion, i'm after all the license reptile rescuers out there.
What are some of the strangest things you've seen, what are some of your best rescues.
I'll start every one off, I was called for a big green snake, fairly thick, in Sydney's...
Hi I just got back from Fiji and was just wondering if anyone could ID these geckos and toads that I saw there?
The were out every night in the hundreds so just wondering if anyone knew what they were.
Thanks,
Andy

I didn't want to steal another thread (where do they came from) but the last few posts raised some questions and thoughts.
What conservation value do captive reptiles have? They can never be released to the wild (not the ones we keep and breed anyway), so how are we contributing to...
So I've been thinking about catching a small gecko or two to feed to my stimmy (8 months old) so he's got something live to eat.

I got a call out for a Brown Snake last week that had apparently been cut in half by a cat. I had my doubts as i think it would be pretty hard to cut a snake in half with a cat claw and asked if the lady was sure it was a snake...
Well this is the little "brown snake". It is currently...
what do you do with these when you find them?
Also, other than claws on the toes, how can you identify them? The spikes on the tail? I caught a bunch, one looks a bit different. Two seem to have very flat heads and the mottled pattern forms lines down the side and the other has only spots...
