Found this little critter on a road today. I think it is a legless lizard or snake lizard of some kind, but not 100% certain.
Does anyone know what type it is?
Thanks in advance for any help.
On New Year's Eve I was kickin' it old school, by driving up a mountain to look for crocodiles. We didn't find any crocodiles, but we did come across some other reptiles. There seemed to be a few other like-minded people up the mountain. If you were up there, you may well have seen me. I was the...
We went night driving during each of our three nights at the Warrumbungles. The first and third nights were cool and we did not see much. The second night was overcast and remained warmer for longer and was quite productive.
The road in the national park passed through ironbark eucalyptus...
Recently I was dragged out to Cracow to help Jonno from Educational Reptile Displays with a venomous snake handling course for the Cracow Gold Mine. We stayed at the Cracow Pub, owned by Fred Brophy.

Monday 27th. October, was a warm day in the Victorian Mallee, 37c infact. I was assisting in the checking of drift-fence and pit-trapping lines and, as the day was warm, many small reptile species were trapped and had to be identified, recorded and non target species marked and released. We...

This is part 2 of the Exmouth area report. Once again, it is a combined report of animals that I found with my son in November, 2005, and with a friend in February, 2007.
We saw a number of Burton's Snake-lizards (Lialis burtonis) in November but none in February. All of those in the...
My son and I visited Karijini National Park in the Pilbara of Western Australia for several days in November, 2005. This park is famous for its beautiful red rock gorges. Some of these gorges have permanent water and of course, where there is water, there is abundant life.
Here are a few...

I think that Burton's Snake-lizards (Lialis burtonis) are one of our more interesting Pygopods. These snake-like lizards have an enormus distribution that covers most of the continent. They also are highly variable in colouration and pattern. Here are a few of the animals that I have seen...
Hi all,
I've just returned from a month over on the other side of the continent, exploring various parts of Western Australia. I'm posting pics and info on my blog, so I'll just copy and paste them here.

The dry habitats of southwestern Queensland are good for a variety of gecko species. We saw several species of these lizards on all of our night drives in November 2006 and October 2007.

This was my first Fat-tailed Gecko from eastern...
In January, my wife and I spent 10 days in Brisbane. I was there for work so was not able to to much herping. We did visit the Lamington Plateau on a weekend (subject of another post). I also went night driving in the Mt. Glorious area on three occasions and this report will include the...
just wondering what vic keepers put these down as on there licence? i have been told they do not go under the common name of burtons legless lizards in the book and i have lost my schedual.
Does anyone have any legal Burton's? The only legal ones i have ever come across were research permit ones. I suspect that due to their difficult husbandry requirements that they are very uncommon within the hobby (due to being picky eaters etc) but just want to gauge their availability.
Thanx
Hi everyone, I've been offered a large Burton's Legless Lizard (Lialis burtonis) (and possibly some hatchling/juvies) and I'm trying to dig up as much info on them as I can.
Such questions I still need more info on are:
1. What's the best substrate for them? (A lightly moistened mix of...
