So I was giving the dog a bath and noticed a large hole in the dirt. We have had quite a lot of Wolf spiders at the moment and the kids are a little worried about em so I put the hose down it to see if it would come out.... as you do!
After a while, these little white things came up and I...

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to ID what is most likely a very simple ID for anyone who knows skinks. Location: North West Sydney suburban garden. Sorry about the quality, I've only got a point-and-click camera. Hopefully it's good enough.
Thanks!

My wife and I have just returned from a four-day trip to Tasmania. Most of our time was spent in the Hobart area, but one day, we drove along the east coast. We visited Ben Lomond National Park and then continued as far north as the Bay-of-Fires. The weather in Tasmania is often cool so we...
I found this little guy when gardening on the weekend on the mornington peninsula his a bit different to the run of the mill skinks we see so I took a couple of photos and let him go. He was easy to handle probably pretty cold. I have had a quick look in my older version of cogger but he didn't...

I am back in a wintry Hobart at the moment. I have been working on an I.T. project here for many months and recently, had two more trips. Hobart is a great place so it is always nice to come back again. Most of the photos in this post were taken in late June and July and will include more...
My work commitments in Tasmania have sadly come to a close. I have had a great time in the past year with frequent trips to Hobart. My wife often accompanied me and this has felt much like a working holiday. On occasion, I was able to take a break and we would hire a car and head to the wild...
There are some truly spectacular national parks in Tasmania. I visited one of these yesterday on a beautiful but crisp (12C, 53F) autumn day. Mt. Field National Park is only a little over an hour's drive from Hobart.
On this trip, I followed a trail into the alpine country to visit an...
I had a day off work today here in Hobart so I hired a car and headed off to Hartz Mountain National Park in the southwest of Tasmania. I have visited this park four times during the summer and early autumn and on each visit, it was cold and often snowing. This visit was not much different and...
Last Christmas, I spent a few days with relatives in Melbourne. While there, my son and I made a quick trip up to the Lake Mountain area to look for reptiles. I found a couple species of skinks but I am not certain of their identity. Does anyone recognize these?
This small skink was common...
My wife and I went on a walk to Cape Raoul in the Tasman National Park yesterday. This park is about an hour and a half drive to the northeast of Hobart, Tasmania. The trail to Cape Raoul passed though eucalyptus woodland before emerging into heath on the cape itself. The coastline of the...
I have been lucky enough to work on a project in Tasmania for a number of months. This work has meant that I fly to Hobart from Sydney every month and recently, I have spent a couple of weeks at a time in Tassie. Last week, I took Friday and Saturday off work, hired a car and drove to a truly...
As I mentioned before, I am working on a project in Tasmania. I have visited it every month since May last year. Most of my time is spent in Hobart, a great place with lots of restaurants and nice scenery. I especially like the Salamanca area.

In the last few months, I have had a number of work-related trips to Tasmania. Most of the time, I have been too busy to get out but on a couple of occasions, I hired a car and headed drove to nearby national parks. In early November, I spent part of a day in the Port Arthur area and walked...
