Looks like i will be getting a Spencers Monitor in the next few weeks, i cant seem to find much information abou them except for the temp side of things. (really cooking)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Mercury Vapor lamps. Apparently they provide both heat and UV to reptiles. The shops here recommend them for larger reptiles but I want to know if anyone uses them and how they compare to seperate heat and light lamps.

i want to build in an open top pit because i want to get a pair of monitors, at this stage laceys, but maybe something slightly smaller....

Thought you would all like to see an old pit revamped. Anyone who has come to our place has seen the great pit that is in the middle of the yard....it is for animals that like it hot. This one is for the ones that like it more like a rainforestish (obviously the plants have got to grow bigger)...

Today was my first day of work experience at Taronga Zoo, but more specfically in the herp section. It was a great first day. I got to look at all the herps, feed the iguanas etc. They have HEAPS of herps out the back in holding cages.
Cant wait till wednesday though because that is feeding...
Thought it might get the forum to post a bit more lol. Just wandering if anyone at the moment was considering any new herps to there collection or even there first herp?
