A bad night out West.......

Well i went out to my property this weekend, and on the way i came across a couple of fella's...

This guy had to be the unluckiest Herp on the Planet, Just as i saw him on the side of the Rd, a Car decided to via of to the side and clean him up!
Not sure what any of them are though, i dont have any References handy.....

This guy was lucky too- That there werent any other cars around....
Burtons I would assume.....

And this snake wouldnt sit bloody still, its very hard holding a Beer,Light ,Snake hook and hoping to hell he isnt going to bite me.

Anyway by the time i got myself organised (I was tired, it was midnight) i chased him through the scrub and he lodged himslef into a log so i couldnt get him! 1hr later and i gave up trying to get him out...
I was out there on my own and i wasnt to keen on getting tagged with no help around....

Spotted Black snake i think.... A bit hard to tell but he was about 1.2m long maybe...

Nice one mate. Shame about that, what looks to be a Simoselaps australis. The second one is definately a Burton's. You're guess is as good as mine with the third. I'd say you're probably right though. I'm happy to be able to say i didn't see a single roadkill when i went out last night, that put a smile on my face.

Nook that was about 15km sw of you know where....

And Yes Burtons From what i understand are reptile Specialists, Thats why they are so snake like with there hinged Snout etc... that guy was so placid, He had no Problems staying still for me when i took a few pictures...

Oh the Roadkill is an Australian Coral Snake (Brachyurophis australis) Member of the Shovel -Nosed Snake Family.

wen we went up during last week we came across a 5ft python just going arcoss the road so we stoped and we just admired it lol but it was a cool siteing

Pity the coral snake got cleaned up moose,ive seen a few roadkills where drivers have gone out of there way to kill snakes,very annoying,thanks for posting a reptile thread.

I've seen an article on the internet where angry herps have procured the body of an already dead snake and loaded it with nails. They then positioned it so it was far enough off the road to allow people driving normally to miss it but close enough so as to allow herp murderers to see it. If anyone swerved to run over the already dead - but very deadly "nail snake," they would puncture their tyres.

nook171, Was it a carpet Python? If so they are fairly rare out there beleive it or not,in the last wildlife survey done on the area only 1 Carpet Python was found in a 40km Radius, not to say they arent there though.....

I wonder if URS are stocking them Spilota_Variegata... haha

it was definatly a carpet for sure i was realy suprised to see a carpet out there tho its a shame i didn't have my cam on me but i could be mistaken it could be a different python
