Hi
I'm about to buy a heat mat for a newly-acquired spotted. Looking at pictures online, they all seem to have a black plastic "box" on the edge that the power lead goes into. This box is far thicker than the mat.
I have in mind to put the mat under the glass floor of the enclosure. Can someone please explain to me how the enclosure can sit flat considering that thicker section? Does that edge stick out the side of the enclosure along with the narrow strip of heating element either side of the box?
Also, I understand it's OK to sit the heat mat on a piece of styrofoam, then the enclosure on top. Is that correct?
Lastly, I've read about some putting the mat on the side of the tank. Surely the snake can't benefit as fully from it in that position as being able to lay directly on top of it?
Thanks for your help,
Mark.
