can i ask how do you locate and find the eggs and get them out without damaging them or having a cave in? Im going to be terrified when it comes to the time.

They will back fill the hole and hide the eggs very well. You dig them up very, very carefully!! I tend to stay at home as much as possible when they are due to lay.

Being housed in a glass enclosure(fish tank) i can slide the tank from the desk and see the eggs from underneath to locate them. Then i carefully dig them up.

Last clutch i caught her just as she was starting to fill the hole in.

woo great news congrats!! how many eggs do they lay on average?

very nice.. i'd be more worried about the waterbowl looking thing in the corner causing a collapse while she was digging.

Slip_phreak - The water bowl has half a brick under it for this reason.

spongebob - not really at this time of the year.

congrats toad,
very exciting stuff
i hope my pair are that successful next year. cant wait, lol.

just a question. im not sure if you keep levis, but if so, do you find the amyae a lot more jumpy and defensive. mine are crazy little critters, lol. if i so much as just put my hand in the cage, they go psycho, hehe. doesent really bother me, just curious to see if others notice it.
thanks, ian

Hey Bob, remember mine laid a pair (one good one dud) of eggs in the middle of last winter when I put them together in a different enclosure after being apart for some time. My amyae are more nervous than my levis.

Mine aren't nervous at all. I can pick both of them up at any time with no fuss.

Mine will bite you any chance they get, Adults and hatchies. One of the hatchies (now half grown) is down right cranky, she growls at you from her hide when you open the enclosure.

Amyae / or / Levis Levis

Lol,,
Amyae, are great, I love my 2, .mine are only young still, . they are little grumble bums,. especially 1 of them, they Hiss & lunge at me, the have bitten me a couple of times already, .I wonder what they will be like when they are older!? ,

I keep Levis levis too, :) (as you might remember) .. They are certainly very diiferent to the Amyae arnt they, the Levis are alot calmer and 'easy going'.. But I do love them both
