If they are such a problem, why don't they crack down on people importing them and create a licencing system? They really need to get things sorted out.

Ether, I doubt it's the importations that are causing the problems. There are so many over in the States, and they're captive bred on such a large scale, and easily accessible. It doesn't have to be a wild caught animal to be nasty. When they are hatchies they look cute, but when they get large and people are worried about being bitten (or the kids getting huirt) that's when they release them. Regulating the keeping of them would be hard.

The different States have different regulations too. A friend of mine in Arizona had a Burmese named Sluggy. When he got to 16 feet she had to take him out-of0state because 16 feet was the maximum size allowed in AZ.
