Now that you have them seperated, make sure they cannot even see each other (seperate rooms or an opaque divider is a good idea)...if the small one can still see the other it wont change a thing...
Give it a few days and let the little one settle in, get used to basking etc again and chuck some bugs in, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Keep the food up to the little guy and you will see a massive growth rate...
