Hi Guys, I have a friend just getting into digital photography, and she has asked me re Adobe Photoshop. I've got no idea  Is this the best software to get, or is there something better that she can buy? Is there a program in XP Home Edition that she could use to do this instead. She is looking to make an album of her photos and then save them to a disk. I'm still learning, and she asks me?? of all people? Lordy!! :D

I think Photoshop is the best but it depends what you want to do. I find people new to photo editing software have trouble with layers and if they can't understand it they don't use it.

If all she wants to do is make an album and do basic editing she doesn't need Photoshop.

Cheryl,
I purchased a Canon Pixma printer, didn't want the three in one, just wanted a good printer for photos etc and it had great software included with the printer. It cost about $600.00.The printer has 8 individual inktanks and the quality is amazing!!!!Everyone I know is impressed with the quality of photos.
The software can make your own photo albums, prints direct onto CD's and DVD's etc.
Hope this helps.
I also have a Canon digital camera which had software included with it as well!

Photo shop is good ACDSee is easy to use Ulead Photo Impact is good

Photoshop is the bees knees, it is fantastic, but cost's a squillian $. I use PS7. There is a Cheeper version which does most of the things PS does, it is called Photoshop Elemnts, retails for around $180, try Hardly Normal. There ia aslo a good free one you can download, it is called Gimp, just do a Google search for it.
