Hi all,

Now this is going to sound funny to most - but I am serious. What are the regulations for bigger pythons like, of the boa family in Australia. I've always been a great fan of the larger snakes and have always been drawn towards them at demonstrations etc.

I'm thinking that you'd need a special permit like, eg, the class 2 license for exotic species and even then it could be difficult to obtain one?

For the last couple years I've owned a Spotted and Coastal carpet with great results (with normal recreational license). I know that the Coastals can get quite big for a carpet python...but that will be a while yet.

The reason I've left it so long is because only now do I finally have the space for something bigger and also the money to support it (and initial setup costs etc etc).

Please let me know - that would be much appreciated as I'm slightly unsure about what's allowed and what's not.

Thanks,
Tom

wouldnt you need the permit zoo's have which the average joe cant get?.. there exotics, pretty sure not everyone can just get a license and have one, get a olive python or a scrubbie if ya want something real big. :)

I wonder what you need in place and what you would need to do to be classed as a zoo?
I know in Queensland with a permit your allowed a few non-recreational licenced species (not boas) if you 'exhibit' them once a month at a school etc.....
