Just wondering
who discovered them originally?
what year were they discovered?
what area were they found?

Anyone got this info in a book somewhere?

They were originally discovered by an aboriginal, thousands of years ago. Glad I could be of help.

OK, they were originally discovered by an aboriginal then he/she devoured it.

I need this info for an article.
There is virtually no info anywhere on this species, hence I thought it would be a good choice to write about...

From the Ehmann book
Hypsilurus boyii named after W.Boyd, a collector for W.Macleay.
Cogger gives the naming date as 1884.
There range is a small area around cairns.

So my bet is that W.Boyd collected the holotype and it was named by W.Macleay.
That are the people who named then, but as to the first person who discovered them - see Parkos first post
