I wouldnt think there would be a behaviour guide to a Bredli, or let alone any reptile. I have just learnt over time what my boys mood is. He is docile as now and even when im trying to drag him from his enclsoure he doesnt hiss or strike. I have only got the feeding response bite of late, thought my finger looked yummy!

hahaha fair enough i just like gettin as much knowledge as possible. would i be right in sayin my bredlis pupils dilating and him S'ing up means piss off im angry?

his 2 and abit only new to me tho but wasnt handled by the past owner for over a year i think.

also his not that big for a 2 yearold i think his abit under a meter

Under a metre seems small for a 2 year old. As long as it's healthy I guess it's all good though. And every snake I've handled has had a different temperament to the others. They're individuals just like we are so I doubt also that there would be a guide. Best way to learn is by experience so have fun with it! ;)

I know a really good thing that explains all the body language of hungry, angry, scared, relaxed and happy, and even some handling techniques. type in google ....

Untitled Document - Southern Cross Reptiles

I read it a while back when I was curious on how to tell my snakes mood and how to handle if he does get snappy

reading it now its called home sweet home a pythons perspective.
great read exactly wat i was lookin for thanks

If he is 2 yrs and under a metre.... feed him alot more than the previous owner told you, he'll calm down dramatically and with regular handling he should be a dream boat. I.E give him two to three full grown mice every 5 days for 6 months and u'll be suprised how much he grows and enjoys it.

On behavioral issues...... my bredli female bobs her head only once or twice when she's staring into space and you walk in and statle her for some reason ???

Ye the last owner wanted him to stay small apparently. But i feed him a small rat the other day and he smashed that an i tryed to give him another about an hour later and he just cuddeld it haha.

Okay sweet i open his enclosure for about 5 min and just touch things in there to try show him im not there to hurt him do u think thats a good idea?

ive had my bredli female"gypsy" for over 6 months now she is 3. at the start every time i went to get her out she would try and strike me, sometimes she got me :( but every day before i went to work i would put my hand in and put it on top of her so she couldn't strike. just resting my hand on her body... she would sniff it and over about 8 weeks of getting her out to handle her, she now does not strike me at all and she never S's at me either. i believe she knows my scent now and also knows i am not afraid of her thats why she does not even try to be aggressive to me. i always catch her staring into oblivion at the strangest of times. hope this helps.. they are amazing snakes when they get to know you.

umm cant really answer that one as i have never approached it that way.... but if his well fed and you then try to get him out 2 days after feeding he should be fine to handle.
ps. you'll get to know his behavior just give it time for him to get to know you is all.

Ye i think its gunna be more of a time thing yer? Cause ive traind alot of thinks not to bite but no reptiles but other pets from ferrets to akitas they all take different approaches so would i be right in sayin just time and keep him happy would work the best? Cause animals such like ferretsmy personal approach is force handling and if they really dont like ya they tear u a new one but they eventually give up

yeah i do it while they are coiled up.. they cant strike you either when you have your hand resting on them. just give it time and persistence and they will not see you as a threat any more.

There is one called Home Sweet Home but the one i read was called SNAKE EMAPATHY and the Art Of Handling Pythons

So try typing-
SNAKE EMPATHY and the Art Of Handling Pythons - Southern Cross Reptiles
( That worked for me when i typed that )
