G'day people!
I have 2 yellow diamond pythons, both about 4 years old (the female big and fat, with a head to suit - about 2inch girth around the center, and one skinny male - abot 1inch girth, dont ask why so differant?) they are both healthy, and the same length. I introduced them to each other today and they seemed to get along with each other fine. i have a 6 foot tall tank that is about 3.5 foot square - and plenty of hiding places. I have had snakes for about 4 years now, but have never looked into breeding.

Will the above mentioned pair suit each other?

And

What do I need to do to prepare, what does the tank need, and what do i need to do for the snakes to breed?

Thanks again people, your always a great help!
Dan.

and/or

or does anyone know of some good literature on the subject?

HI Dan,
sounds like a good pair. I prefer to keep mine seperated during the non breeding season and feeding the female once per week and the male once every 2 weeks. I do this throughout the summer months and begin the cooling process around july and then place the male into the female late August. When cooling all you need to do is lower the ambient temp in your cage, but i still like to give the snake a "hot spot" so that it can raise it's body temp up to about 30 degrees. This only needs to be for a few hours a day, then i let the cage fall to what ever the night time temp get's to in my garage. Good idea is to place a nice size flat stone under the spot lamp so that the rock holds some heat during the night for the snake to lay on.
A good book is Keeping and Breeding Australian Pythons!!!

Hope i didn't confuse you to much mate. hehe
