Found basking in the deck of property in snowy mountains NSW @ 1100mts altitude.
Was very slow and lazily moving even when it saw me and was trying to shoo it away from a safe distance.

Herpetology is correct on the ID. There's something wrong with it, it looks like it has a head injury and you say it was sluggish. Ticks are also visible (pretty common and not necessarily a significant issue for them).

Given its injuries and that it was looking sluggish, it is probably on its way out of this world with or without any further assistance.

Thanks for the ID. It eventually moved away into tall grass fair bit away from the house. There’s plenty cattle around, will call relocation if I see it again.

I'm not aussie but would say some brown snake, definitely call snake removal
