hi guys, i recently bought a carpet python and it was sold to me as a female, but today i noticed spurs on it protruding about a cm. It is a very large snake so im not sure if it is just because of that or if it is a male.
Any opinions appreciated

ok cool thanks that makes me feel a bit better, i did not want a big bulky male, i will get (hopefully) her probed

Bulky males? I always thought females were bigger than males? especially comes breeding time. =)

i have seen people at expos before sex the snakes they are going to sell. they just push their bum so something comes out. if 2 dicks come out its a male, i dont know what comes out if its a female but lol. u could try that. the snake doesnt seem to be hurt when this happens.

its not that easy. popping snakes is normally done with hatchies not adult snakes. even in hatchies it not allways 100%. if the hemipenis dosent pop then you may think you have a female when the snake could still be male. also done wrong and the snake could be injured

Probably not the best advise. Don't try anything unless you know what you are doing and have been shown correctly. There's a lot of experienced herpers that will happily teach you how to probe.
