Hey guys, got back from the expo today and see my carpet python up in his tree, he has a slight red tinge on his underside and looks like some strange convulsing movements occasionally when he breathes... oltherwise he seems fine, alert and basking. please help!:(

hey sometimes in reptiles a pinkish red under belly means they have an infection of some sort
did he have a feed b4 the strange convulsing movements?

VET

get your baby to the VET !!

There is a really good reptile vet in frankston, they had a stand at the expo.....call them

Don't bother taking the snake to a vet. Occasionally, as they go opaque prior to shedding, the underside, especially towards the tail, will get a pinkish tinge. It's quite normal for this to happen and often the first sign of an approaching shed. The odd movements are probably nothing to worry about either if all else is normal.

With the number of inexperienced people here who immediately tell you you must rush off to the vet at the first sign of something they don't understand, I sometimes think they must work for the vets and be touting for business.

Yeh Jamie thats exactly what i was just thinking, looking at him now he is perfectly fine and acting normal. so i guess ill just wait till he sheds and see what happnes! Honestly i think he is fine now. :)
