As some of you know from the faces to name thread,
I have two Dalmatians...

Today I got a voice message saying "I found your dog on such and such road, I've put them back, they were really upset...call me back and I'll explain why"

Now to me...that implies you or someone else has hurt my dog?! Otherwise...wouldn't you just say you found the dog, and just letting you know I returned it for you and make sure you check for holes?!

Not that they were upset and you need to tell me why in a one on one phonecall...
they then didn't answer their phone to any of my calls...

and here's the thing; neither of the dalmatians have ever tried to escape; they have a huge back yard.
If one got out, the other would certainly follow...but I can let my boy off leash and he'll walk straight into my yard!
Our gate is also locked, so how the hell did they get whatever dog it was back in?!

After crying hysterically, I got my cousin to go over and check; they're both completely fine?!

Now I'm just outright confused and rather furious.
I guarantee when checked later tonight, there are no holes.
we've had them almost 3 years and like I said, there's never been escape attempts!

ahhh just had to vent. Because I'm so revved up.
I pity her when she calls me back if she doesn't make this make more sense....

keep us updated! its worrying to get calls like that and not being able to do anything about it!

I must also say, I probably sound unappreciative that they "brought the dog back", but I'm not really convinced one got out. I know the woman who called, she's kinda a suss character...I'm not friends with her or anything, but I knew her kids when I was a kid.

and I will keep you updated! So curious to see what she claims happened!

Ahhh my god I had SUCH a huge break down for seemingly no reason!

still seems suss...
Their were no holes, and so no way they could've got out...
and to top that, the "location" they found the dog/s changed when I spoke to them personally...

and they CLAIM my dog Billie was "growling and baring teeth" at their daughter...
and that the other dog was fine.

Now, not to sound a cocky dog owner, but Bill has had many random people pat him, at the gate alone and on walks with me.
He has had many random friends he's never met pat him at my gate in the dark before coming inside, and never once showed any aggression.

The other dog, Bella, SMILES and snorts...so bares teeth and snorts/grunts.

I insist they got the dogs mixed up, but they insist I'm wrong.

All in all, it seems a bit of money ploy since they were bogan, to imply my dog is vicious and got out. pfft...walking into my yard and patting them doesn't count!
^^ I'm rather certain that's what really happened.

so any updates? did you end up sorting out an explanation?

I don't blame you for being upset and worried, I would be too. Just be careful and maybe there is some type of explanation.

It sounds like someone making prank phone calls. Very worrying when you have no idea who or what they are up to. I'd be keeping double check on your locked gates and fences and make sure someone isn't harassing your dogs or trying to organise them getting out. Let your neighbours know. I am sure they would keep an eye on things while you aren't home.

Yeah Dreamkiller, smiling is common in Dalmatians :)
Thing is, there's only 4 dalmatians where I'm from, so I guess most people haven't seen it, so most people do freak out and assume the worst...

At first I didn't think I knew the woman, but then I mentioned it to my cousin and she reminded me we do know her. It's her children I don't trust...
I did report it to the police station, knowing they couldn't do anything, but just as a backup incase something else suss happens.

but yeah no further explanation from the people. they "offered" to "check" on my dogs later in the night...to which I sternly told them to not contact my dogs or go near my yard, but gave a hesitant and rather fake "thank you" for "returning" them. Just at the off chance they weren't lying...but they so were.
