r k cool.

im getting a beardie in a few weeks time only thing im still on the fence about is substrate..

for babies, paper towels or newspaper, tehy crap 2-3 times a day (stinky and dirty) and are way more sensitive to sand than adults. papers so easy, its only for a few months so the ugliness is only temporary.

once theyre juvies (halfway growwnish) i'm happy to put mine on playsand, never use anything thats had calcium added, it encourages them to eat it and sticks the sand together to form a plug.

just my 2 cents anyway. :)

He still hasn't pooped! Given him lots of warm baths, baby apple food, rubbed his tummy...
He seems happy enough but getting really fat!

didnt you write he sinks to the bottom.before editing it????:?..sorry previious post
dont let him retain too much water!

always make sure that the dragon isnt deeper than the stomache

put him on a heat bag ....it will help :D
pm me if you need extra help

this sounds like a feed issue

all critters need a balanced diet....
equal moisture intake..huge cause of impaction more than substrate

umm...if he has gone off greens..thats the issue
wet the live feed.....so they almost drown before feeding
solved

to make this quicker.......
how old is the dragon.....how often is his feeding..how much does he consume..per feed????

Makes sense! Yeah he doesn't seem to eat alot of greens. So soak the crickets in water before feeding?

He is bout 6cm from his nose to the end of his body (before his tail starts) and 4.5cm from behind neck to end of body...
Yeah hes western dwarf bd

sounds about right ..try feeding every other day ....he will eat more on the feed day
thus stimulating his appetite so he eats more

My beardie was also constipated.... having been about 3 weeks since his last poop, he had a fat firm tummy. After reading this thread I fed him some apple pieces, took outside for the sun/heat - its' over 30C in Sydney today!! And an hour later, he left a massive one in his tank. So yep, thanks for the apple laxative advice!

i took my beardie to the vet and hes all better now just alot skinnier!!!
looks like he was eating alot of sand! barry had an xray and we discovered more sand than dragon, so poor barry had to be violated and had an enema.
heres the xray

Geez. So this wasn't the play sand from Bunnings? And he's a juvy?

Glad he's OK, just shows they can ingest a fair bit of sand.
