If only daylight ravings would go away. It takes my body ages to get used to it and by the time it finally does, it's over and I gotta re-adjust again. The extra sunlight doesnt come just because we move our clocks, the days lengthen in summer anyway. If people want to wake up early they are perfectly able to do it without changing everyone's clocks. I think I'll relocate to QLD for this time.

Really? So you go to bed and wake up exactly the same time everyday? An hour difference is nothing for me to get used to since I go to sleep anywhere between 9pm-1am each night.... I've never noticed how many hours I sleep making a difference at all really. Unless I get no sleep... Your solution doesnt work unless people can get their boses to let them start work at 5am when the sun comes up. No so handy if you work at a bank is it :p

You can still exercise before work and all those lovely things that people are loving the extra sunshine for. I wake up at the same time every work day and when u cant get to sleep till late and live on 5 hrs of sleep a night the extra hour makes a massive difference. Some people love it, some people hate it, I'm just ones of those ones that it stuffs with majorly.

Where we live,in the middle of summer it is daylight at about 5 am and does not get dark till between 7-8 pm - so why the hell do we need daylight saving....????

and when are people going to realise that you are not actually getting any extra daylight - its just the time on the clock that has changed....

It's just not practical to get the kids up at 5am for family time at the park :( Make sure you never visit the UK .. Doesn't get dark until after 10pm... And places like Alaska it doesnt get dark. It's not that big a deal, but great if you work 8-5pm and want to play outside after work.

Daylight saving time reduces electricity usage and promotes energy efficiency. Go green and use less electric lights at night!

Tasmanian state government implemented Daylight Savings in the summer of 1967 to save power which saved water. A severe drought in the state made it imperative that DST be used to help the situation. As it turned out, they liked having DST in Tasmania so much so that they have continued it ever since. Because it was such a success, the Tasmanian state government pushed to get DST used Australia-wide.
