Hi guys,
Yesterday i brought these two water dragons. The breeder had gippies and eastern together in a huge pit, but i came to the question are they pure eastern or can they be half eastern and half gippi? When i purchased them they where blackish looking but scince they have been swimming pretty much all day they have turned out to be like a dark grey with eastern colouring. Man dont they love it outside!

The one hanging on the wire looks like an eastern or eastern hybrid to me, it is best to assume they are hybrids as purity cant really be guaranteed unless you keep the whole clutch and they are obviously all one type. Either way its still a water dragon :)

I was hoping to breed them (if they turn out to be a pair). On the licence they are ewds?

It's hard to see the markings clearly in the photos. EWD have a black stripe going throught the eye whereas Gippsland's dont.

I have found that they have more rounder heads than easterns unless they are coming up to a shed as they are only 2 weeks old.

Update: I just had a look they dont have the stripe, but he only has a male gippy and the females are eastern, so i guess they are hybrid. The breeder thought they wouldnt genetically mix.
Thanks for your help guys.

Maybe if you get a bit further away & little more out of focus we will be able to accurately tell you!

Be shure to upload photos when they get some more size on them.
