hi i got my lincene earily this year and got 2 bearded dragons and they are thiving i read everything i could lay my hands on and have them going great. they are kepted together and have been like this since they were young the shop i got them from. there have been no fights and every now and then the wave and bobby of heads and thats it as i read they perfer being on there own.
also have 2 blue tounge lizards too.
and decided to get a eastern water dragon.
have put a pretty big container of water in his tank that im sure he has never expenced and here is my question, i no they love water he was from a pet shop who have had him for a year and looked after him very well but only had a smallish dish for water for him nothing he could get under water with.
now i have something deep enough for him to swim in and get on the bottom under water and he seems to spend a great amount of time there.
in fact i freaked out abit this morning when i thought he was dead he was so still and didnt wake for a few seconds when i pulled him up out of water.
is this ok that he is choosing to sleep there in the water and not being under the lamp, should i just put the water in for some of the day and out at nite or is his judgement ok and to let him be, he is out and under the lamp during the day and at nite to but loves the water better.
with winter weather around now the lounge is warm till we go to bed so he wouldnt be cold till later, since i just paid $150 for him last saturday id hate for him to die and would hate more if im responseable for it in case im doing something wrong.
any advise or helpful links id love to have. thank u. he is eatting and apart from him having never been handled he is getting a bit tamer by the day. thank u

Water dragons can stayed submerged for some time, I clocked one of ours at 25 minutes.

Their need for water comes naturally, it's instinctive, so just let him be the judge.

I'd keep the water in there just make sure you keep it clean, Water Dragons are synonomous with pooing in water.

Aprt from that it sounds like you have one healthy Dragon.

dont worry when i got mine many years ago i freaked out as`well lifting it out there water bowl in the morning thinking it was dead. cold not moving limp [panic] but now they live outside all year round and its not unusal to see them in there pond overnite and thru the day when the outside temp. can be as low 5-8 c. water temp is normally a little bit warmer [ to cold 4 me to swim ] they are really hardy beautiful reptiles. hope you enjoy them as much as i do deano :D:D:D
