Hi

We are currently incubating 14 eggs our maccie laid 36 days ago. When we checked them today for their weekly airing we noticed two of them on top of the clump have significantly dimpled. I know they do this as hatching gets near i always thought it was in the last few days so is it normal for this stage of the process. This is our first breeding season so a reply from someone experienced would be appreciated

thanks

That's normal, from my experience they start to dimple around 2 weeks prior to hatching. I've had eggs dimple to less than half their original size previously so i wouldn't worry about how much they've dimpled either. If i were you'd i'd start letting fresh air in a bit more frequently then weekly from now on.

Thanks for the reply, just what i was hoping to hear MrBredli!

How often to air now every three days or two? Gives us another reason to keep an eye on them!

Yeah every 2-3 days would be fine. During the last week you'll no doubt be checking them everyday so may as well do it daily from that point! :)
