I have a new diamond hatchie that the breeder and his family called "Evil". Evil is a she and she tries to bite anything that moves:shock: I have been trying to handle her as much as possible with limited movement to try and help settle her. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tame Evil as Iam not looking forward to having a full grown agressive snake?

evil

hey, unfortunately the only way to tame a snappy snake is to handle it. when learn to read our snake and when she does get too stressed, just put her back and let her calm down, try not to handle her for abour 2 days after a she eats because the added stress can sometimes cause snakes to regurgitate their food. also when she does strike just put her back thats her way of telling you she is too stresses because at the moment, as a hatchie she sees you as one giant predator. diamonds are usually a placid snake and with regular handling she should grow out of the aggressive stage as long as she doesnt get into a regular rythm of striking
cheers, trav

maybe leaving it alone would be a good idea, its probably a little stressed atm

personally i would leave it alone. and leave handling only to a minimun.
i dont generally get my snakes out just to "play" with them. i only get them out when its needed and for them to have a strectch and a crap outside on the grass. and i find since i give them space they arnt threatended by me and there for are alot more quieter .
some snakes are born to bite and some are born to be angels. diamonds generally settle with age.
but give her some space, over handling will stress the snake out alot more. once u have established a healthy eating pattern, then introduce handling if u want to. good luck with it all

p.s (sorry my spelling is like a 5 yr old, i am tired :D)

Thanks for the advise guys, Evil is a feb hatchie and I only get to handle her about on average once a week. While handling her I have to move very slowly when changing hands or she will try and tag me. I have young kids and she tries to tag them when they walk by. I also have a male out of the same clutch and he is very passive.

make sure she isnt in a high traffic area. have her in a spare room if you can. then she wont be frightened by people walking passed her and stuff.

Cheers Guys

Thanks for all of your advise, I will keep you posted.
