Hey, I noticed yesterday that my ackie's vent isn't looking normal.
It seems swollen maybe, a little of the inside of the vent is extruding, pushing out of the vent.
It's only a small amount, but it's still worrying me a lot.

Does anyone know what it could be?

Thanks.

I'm sure I've seen a photo that looks like it in my copy of the bearded dragon manual, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. I was hoping it could help me.

most probably it is prolapsing, not a good thing, i suggest you keep it clean and moist and if it doesnt go back in to the vet with you

oh, is it a male, accie. it may also be a prolapsed hemipene same deal though pics would help though

No idea, it's unsexed. Thanks.

Mine did this too but it went back in soon after. That was a couple of weeks ago and he's been fine since

Oh okay, that's good. Thank you.

It hasn't changed since yesterday, not better or worse.

Here are some pics.

havent seen before but I think you should bath her is some warm sugar water and very gently massage it back in.

Thats not a bad prolapse. The sugar paste (as previously suggested) should cause it to retract.

Its absolutely essential that you dont let it dry out. You could re-insert it using a small blunt probe but I wouldnt suggest that unless you've been shown how to do that. If it doesnt go back in after a few hr of applying the sugar paste, then get a vet to re-insert it.

Have you changed its diet lately?

Thank you everyone, just gave her a warm sugar bath and it worked a dream, it's all back in now, I'll keep an eye on her over the next few days incase it happens again. Thank you :)

Okay so the vent stayed normal for two days and then it happened again, gave her another warm sugar bath and it went back to normal again, but I'm worried the problems will keep happening.

Any ideas?
