Hi Belle,
My brisbane carpet has been hanging out in his water bowl a bit the last 2 weeks.
He is in outdoor enclosure and the temps up here in brisvegas are getting up to mid 30deg.(It's bloody hot and sticky)
There are no sign of mites so i am gathering he is bathing in the cooler water.
How hot is it down in Sydney at the moment?
Could this be cause for him laying in the water.

HOT to hot here in sydney. Temperature in cages jumped to 34 at 3 pm yesterday and my old female had problem breathing. Her head shaked ewery time she gasp for air. Poor thing. I did applied ice to cool cages down.

It got up to 36 in my cages slatey...I ended up putting fans over the tops of the cages...It was 45oc outside yesterday at 6:30!

Twice I have had the experence of hurredly removing the wet suit, swimming out of the cloud (repeating two or three times ) then putting wet suit back on.

I'm sure I don't have to explain further
