My neighbor is giving away her 3 year old golden lab (sally)
she is a healthy happy dog that loves everyone..she is being given away because my neighbor has recently had a baby and dosnt want to keep sally anymore

What a gorgeous looking woofer... I hope she finds a great home. I'll never understand why people get a dog (or any other pet for that matter) only to give them away when they fall pregnant... it's just not fair on the animal, they're as much a part of the family as a new bub :(

hmm sad that their giving it away now that they have a new baby. hell my parents got a golden retriever pup before i was born and i grew up with a good mate.

hope sally finds a good home soon,

andrew

I wouldn't trust ANY dog - big or small - around kids unsupervised, regardless of breed... I just think it's sad people make a commitment and buy a pet, include it in their family, then give it away when a child comes along. I understand some circumstances are exceptional.... that's JMHO. She looks like a playful thing, would love to take her on if I lived in Vic and if my hound was more accepting of sharing his home!

awww how can you give away your dog
just keep it out side if your worried about the baby
i grew up with a playfull labrador and i was fine lol

awwww check out the cute smile in the second pic!!

I'd love to take her but I live too far away to pick her up

yeh labradors are awesome mine only just recently passed away this year and she had a good 13 years with me best buds :)

pets are ment to be for life as well. wish people would not just get a dog cause its a good idea. i trust my dogs with anyone or anything.

Yeah I could never think of my dogs or any pets as disposable when something like a bub comes along, you can be careful with them, I grew up with a collie dog like lassie and have always had pets of every kind!

my dog was introduced to my babies the day they came home from the hospital, and would trust her with them anytime, infact i could lay the beby on a blanket next to my dog and she would watch over her and not let anyone near her but me, in fact my first dsaughter learnt to walk by pulling herself up on the dog, lol, they make a home a home, she's the best friend i and they could ever have, she's very old now, and i would love this dog if i lived in melbourne,

Where are you? Does she get along with other dogs? We have a small terrier dog who wants a friend to play with =)

Why does'nt your neighbour get rid of the kid? If ever you are going to have a dog with a new baby around you would want a Lab. Tell you neighbour she should be ashamed of herself. It can't be a money thing as they are giving it away. The dog appears to be very placid (going by both pics) and labs by nature are normally gentle.

Why get rid of it? I know it's none of my business but I really am confused and don't understand the logic behind her choice.

I'll ask around work and see if I can get her the home that she truely deserves.

Where would pick-up be from? Suburb wise.

shes a beautiful dog allright and my neighbor knows my feelings on the matter..
im on the mornington peninsula shamus..
some people get dogs as fasion accesories and some just dont
think before they bring one home...i feel sorry for her older child who absolutly adores sally..
anyway..she will only go to a real good home because i am making sure of it
baz

Pathetic, this is why there should be licenses for dogs, there always going to be more problems with dogs and cats, if people started getting hit with big fines for dumping dogs etc then people might think before they get one.

People like this make me sick, they don't deserve kids if they can't even stick it out with a dog.
The saddest thing about it is most dogs like this one end up being put down because rescue homes etc get flooded.

Hope you find a home for her, she looks like a lovley dog, it's just sad to see this kind of thing.

i would take her in a flash, IM IN SYDNEY

ssssnakeman....your a gun.... at least you are attempting to do your best the animal. I think having you as her owner would be great.
