Freezing rats

Forgive me if someone has already made a thread about this but I couldn't find a thread on the site about it.

What do people think about people that breed there own rats then freeze them to kill them?

is it cruel to the rats?

Just wanted to gather some opinions before going a head with any of my breeding plans!

Yes it's very cruel.Plenty of threads on the subject.5 threads show up on the bottom of this one.

No good for us warmblooded critters, a quick whack on the brickwork and is all over.
many people use the co2 method but it doesn't work for me, i find they stagger and suffer and end up ripe with there own waste.

This method is rather cruel for the rodent, the 'clonking' method is alot faster and (if done correctly) is an instant lights out.

What everyone else said, I used to clonk but now use gas.

Clonkings fine, except they bleed out of the nose and make a mess. It becomes a problem if you've got a couple of hundred to dispatch, but I will admit, you'd get good at it!!!!! I use CO2 always!

how would you feel if you were put in a freezer?
if your going to breed rodents, kill them quickly

They only bleed out the nose if not done correctly

I don't think I could kill them I'm such a wuss. I couldn't hit them over the head or freeze them or gas them!

Then breeding is not for you

I used to be that way, but now I look at them as snake food and thats that... even the kids know thats what they are for. I must confess though we do have a few that are pets and will only be snake food when they are at retiring age.
