So my AHG escaped about a week and a half ago. I was taking him out to clean his enclosure and he's so fast and got away from me. I couldn't find him everywhere. After turning my room upside down and not seeing him, I lef tit till later that night when he'd be more active. Still couldn't find him. After a few days I gave up and saw him as a lost cause. Those geckos do great in the wild anyway so I knew he'd be fine. So Saturday night I go into my room and what do I find? Him clinging to the outside of his enclosure, waiting patiently. As soon as I open the lid, he darts in and disappears into his hide. I'm flattered he chose life with me over life in the wild. haha. I'm very glad he came back.

No I know my little Cujo. He has the funniest little pattern on his head like none of the wild ones around here have. Plus his tail is halfway through growing back. haha. It's a little black stub.

congrats on finding your little Cujo :D He sounds like a funny little guy that missed his mum :D

Thanks guys :D I'm so glad he's back. Haha he better have missed me, he gets spoilt rotten. Plus he was probably hungry as he ate 3 crickets. Fat pig. :p

LOL Horsy!! That's such a cute story!! I lost a thick tail recently for almost a week and had given him up for gone. One evening I went to check on the herp room inhabitants as usual, opened the door, stopped to turn on the light and there he was inches from my foot. I was dumbstruck so stood perfectly still for a couple of seconds, he crawled right onto my foot and started climbing up my leg, bless him!

Glad you got Cujo back. I didn't realise that AHG's could be kept on licence in QLD. We have tons, but not in enclosures!

Off topic I know but how is your new horse going? Maybe you can start a new thread with some updated pics of her?

:0)

Can they be kept on license even tho their introduced? Wouldn't you be able to just catch them.

It's legal to catch them without a license and keep them as pets, I researched. But I bought him from a pet shop that was selling him as pet food. I couldn't let tha thappen. Money well spent.

All you have to do is train him to do backflips and your sweet!

I don't think that'll ever happen. Though he's come home, he still hates people. I'm not surprised, they treated him like **** there. He was just started to get better with handling until he escaped, now it's all undone.

I'm going up to qld in a couple of weeks, and i'm staying with my partners relatives.

I might try and catch a couple to bring back, the other thing is we need a license for them here.

I wonder how that would go.

I think it's actually illegal to take them to a state where they aren't overpopulated in the wild. They /are/ a pest so they are trying to get controlled and stay in only certain places. You'd have to research it.

Do NOT catch them and bring them to Sydney!!!!

If they are in Sydney catch them in Sydney and save travelling with them. If they are not in Sydney the last thing you want to do is risk introducing them into the Sydney area.

If they are on the species list then you can't catch them wild and keep them.

i reckon its hell slack to catch a wild animal and stick it in an enclosure

If thats the case I hope you don't keep any reptiles.Afterall at some stage they all came from the wild.
