What is the difference between a hare and a rabbit? Cheers colin.

They are all lagamorphs.

Hare taste's better IMHO ;-)

Basically hares run and act like they are more intelligent. Rabbits jump and bounce about.

I often see hares in Jells Park which I ride through on my way too and from work. I presume the hares are a little more cunning when it comes to avoiding the foxes that infest the suburbs of Melbourne. Other places with more cover (black berries) tend to have more rabbits..

I hate foxes almost as much as I hate cats. Other than snake food I have not much time for rabbits but I have never seen hares in plague numbers. To me they are a bit like camels and deer, still feral animals but not doing as much damage as cats, foxes and toads.

not as much damage? they dig bloody great burrows and warrens all over dont they?
munch on grasses etc, that are eaten by natives , roo's etc etc

Down with bugs I say! "I'm off hunting wabbits, hahahaha"

If it is feral it is in peril.. I hear the sentiments and agree.

However of all the feral animals around the place, if I could irradicate 10 with the blink of an eye hares would probably not be in it.

re Hare

You can pull a hare out of your bum but you cant pull out a rabbit!! :p
