Its entirely natural behavior for a hatchling to constantly hide. We give them a hide on the warm end and a hide on the cool.
So they can stay hidden and thermo-regulate.
give them as many hides as you can. By doing this you are supplying the necessary requirements for the animal and this is paramount to its mental health by keeping stress levels down thus avoiding sickness.
He will be active at night when hungry or thirsty. Or having a crap.

With the jungle, the worst thing is to fully expose the snake and then try to feed it. This freaks them out especially if they are a nervous personality. Not knowing how it was raised, I won't comment on how to get it feeding, but they have to feel secure. There are numerous tricks to get baby snakes feeding, did it come with history?

Regarding the size difference - the diamond is a good feeder and a robust healthy little snake, therefore will grow faster.
If you knew the total weight of everything both snakes had eaten then you would probably have your answer. The bigger the snake the bigger the prey item it can take therefore faster it grows again.
 
ive seen a few threads just like this and there pretty much resolved as just settling in, also offer food probably every week-week and a half coz thats what everyone seems to do so...
