Hi guys ......This is my 1st time using a heat cord in the set up of my new enclosure. I have a 15W 4m heat cord. I plan to silicone (with the proper heat resistant, industrial grade silcone) the cord in between 2 ceramic tiles (like a sandwich effect). The tiles are 20cm x 20cm.
I doubt I will be using all the 4 metres , what do you do with the excess cord , as I know it can't be left to just hang out the back or coiled as touching together can cause a fire.

By the way its for a stimmie .

Your ideas will be great !

Cheers all :D

a 15 watt heat cord wont get hot enough to cause a fire ive been useing the same one for two years coiled between a folded tea towel no probs at all fire wise (admittedly i was a little worried at first but its been fine for so long im not worried any more). my suggestion and what i want to do but am to lazy atm is to get a an inch thick bit of mdf and router out the inside to maximise the amount of cord used so give it a snakeing pattern accross the bord or use tiles and then place a thin tile on top but i wouldnt silcone it just incase it failes and you need quick access to it.

probably gonna get in trouble for the coiled in a tea towl but meh it works for me and i check daily

dunmovin, as dicky said, just let it hang out the back, all 4 metres of the cord doesnt heat up anyway... and if ya paranoid about it, plug it into a thermostat... :D
