are heat panels ok for cages 4 foot(h)X80cm(w)X60cms(d)?

or are those cages to small,...?

would have pegboard backing fro ventilation.

Depends on what you're planning to keep in it. If it is for Loki I would suggest having no ventilation at the top near the heat panel and placing the thermostat at that area. Using a full pegboard backing to a tall enclosure will result in a warm basking site and the remainder of the enclosure near ambient which may be a little cool for a Bredli. If you enclose the top, you should have a warm area with a full vertical thermal gradient.

Thanks Chimera! :)

these cages are for jungle pythons....

Loki recently moved into a 5.5(h)x4x2 foot enclosure, i had to drill 40 holes in the top cos the whole cage was getting hot hot hot!!!

hence the thought of pegboard backing in the hopes that would give a decent thermal gradient,..

so if i board up about half a foot or a foot at teh top of the pegboard would that be better?

i love the heat panels, i dont wanna go back to changing light globes 5 times a week! :)

Sorry for the late reply, if you use a vertically oriented 4' enclosure with pegboard on the lower 3' you will probably find that the lower 2.5' will be close to room ambient. This will definitly be the case if you have a glass front.

Personally, I would go with a 1' strip of pegboard between the 1' and 2' mark from the floor (i.e. 1' solid on the bottom, 2' solid on top). I would then use 3 or more horizontal perches at 1.5' off the ground, 2.5' and 3.5' and position the thermostat halfway between the top and bottom perch (with the thermo set to about 28-30).

The only concern I would have with this setup is is the panel overheating, but if they aren't in Loki's enclosure it should be fine.
