My 3 year old jungle python is looking like she has anorexia around her neck area and her scale are sticking up in the bent area's of her body.... anyone have any ideas on whats going on?

Could it be im not feeding her enough?

........

Found out after soaking her to see if she had mite that it was an extremely bad she! she had a full skin left on.....

Mites is a fairly solid guess.

Easy test :

Place your snake in a dish of luke warm water, enough to cover whole body except head.

Let them soak for a while and keep an eye out for teeny little black things appearing in the water.

Mites can definitely make scales out of whack

But the anorexic look could be dehydration?

Doesn't hurt to just get some Mite spray and spray her, also make sure that you are using chlorine free bottled water, and another note (if its ever a vitamin defiencency or whatever) inject her food with a vit suppliment. Great way to do it!

Why to do all these things if the cause is unknown? Some of your advice is just crazy mate! Injecting with wit suppliments? No chlorinated water? Where did you all that from? This is the trouble with forums - wrong advice given by someone who has no idea. Sorry for being blunt but you deserve it.

Longqi, it may well be dehydration but it can also be anemia caused by advanced stage of mite infestation.

Why expose an animal to chemicals if it isn't necessary? Why water that is chlorine free? Most people supply tap water for their pets with no adverse effects.

Batesy it doesn't look too flash from that pic,I would think a vet trip is definitely in order.

Looking at the photo, I don't think there is a mite infestation but it's not looking good. What's her feeding / drinking regime?

is she coming up for a shed at all?? keiko does that when she is heading into a shed cycle! its like her skin is to big for her, but once she has shed its gone.

All snakes do that to some degree but this looks like severe dehydration or starvation. .... or both.

Shes due for her feed tonight i normally give her a sub adult rat every 10-12 days and im not sure about her drinking habbits.....

Maybe i should go to every 7 days???

Subadult every 10-12 days sounds fine. Wont be starvation unless she isn't absorbing it. Have her stools been normal? Does she have access to water often?

Holy Crap i think it was an extremely bad shed....... I’m soaking her in water, at first to test for mites but there was none but it seems like she has a layer of skin about to come off so I’m soaking her more..... Maybe i really need to raise the humidity in her enclosure
