My darwin carpet has just ingested some of its barl substrate along with it's dinner, fairly large peices...2 I think? Should I be worried/calling a vet or will she be able to digest and pass these ok? Am worried at the moment!

I've heard of it happening before & there being no issue in the snake passing it
however I'm no expert on the subject..
I hope your Darwin passes the substrate for you!!

from wht i've read they should be ok breaking down bark. Its a natural substance that occurs in the wild and im sure that wild pythons also may swallow a couple of bark chips whilst chumming down a meal on a bark laid surface ;) they can digest bones, marrow and organs and nails and claws, i doubt they would have any trouble with bark. also because they are wood they will break down the the stomach naturally with all the acids ect... next time though dont feed on substrate if ur worried this is going to happen :)

it should be ok as in the wild as Aussieblue said they will get all kinds in there mouth when they eat!
but from now on you should get a large tub or some thing and feed him in that lined with paper, will save u all the worry and then it wont be so cage defensive! =]

Use a hook to get her out place her in a large tub and kapow give her the rat :)

i place mine on there climbing sticks/logs upon feeding time. the seem to rather eating upside hanging there because the floor doesnt get in there way

Thanks for the info. I'm going to feed her out of her tank (somehow!) from now on!

How big is she??? I have a large plastic tub which i put my snakes in to feed.... just with some news paper on the bottom for them to grip on

They will be 3 yrs old this year. Her partner is approx 1 mt 20 but he is smaller than her. She has always been highly strung even tho I handled her regularly. But when the bites got too nasty I stopped (after 18mths!) I figured she just wasn't ever going to be comfortable being held so I clean her tank out during her sleeping hours and we admire each other from the safety of our own environments. He, on the other hand is a fantastic handler, never bitten and much more a joy to be around.
